I want to to learn a foreign language because i think it would be interresting and because I think it would help me in my career I want to pursue. I am a beginner for both Mandarin and Japanese, I have never studied it before. I would like to dedicate about 3-5 hours a week on the language with a teacher. I am a recent graduate in finance from the John Molson school of Business. I have always been fascinated by chinese culture and language. I had set an objective of learning the language once I graduate, and so I am now trying to follow through this plan. I am familiar with the fact that mandarin is a hard language to aquire and I am therefore not expecting to grasp it from one year to another. I have to admit that grammar has always been my weakness in school and it is one of the reasons I chose to get into business and appplied mathematics. I am however a quick learner of speech and therefore am not worried of being able to carry on conversations throughout my learning experience. What I am looking for in a teacher is simply patience, understanding and a good method of teaching a new language. I am aware that these people are professionals and have a skill that not many people have and I am therefore looking forward to joining a group or even personal tutorials.
