I have became a Buddhist some years ago, and I find that most of the temples are Chinese and Vietnamese. Chinese being more numerous and accessable. The majority of the information is provided in Manderian.
Furthermore, the majority of the monks, nuns, and followers communicate in this language. English speaking people and information in this community are not so numerous. The people in this community are very warm and welcoming, but because of the language barrier there is always a feeling of unententional isolation that I wish to eliminate.
I feel that by learning to read and speak in this language I will be able to create a bridge for myself and others

I am a student taking up hotel restaurant and management. Learning another language, Chinese Mandarin, which I know nothing about, and becoming proficient in the use thereof will definitely be a credit in my favor when i graduate and look for a job.
Maybe two hours a day will suffice for my language lessons in school. And I want my teacher to be patient and with a great sense of humor.

Hello all.
I am currently looking for someone to help me in learning Mandarin Chinese. I a little background in the the language but I would like to improve.
I am interested in learning all aspects of the language. Speaking, both formally and informally, as well as reading and writing (simplified characters to start).
I practice writing characters on my own time and have invested in some books but the study material in Ottawa is limited and what is available is not very good.
I am looking to meet someone who is willing to meet a couple times a week to talk in Mandarin with me. New sentences and words.
A structured lesson is not really necessary, just simple conversation tips and such to begin.
