I know that there is formal and standard, which is basically adding -meshita to the end of standard. I would like to learn Japanese as one day my husband and I plan to spend up to 6 months touring Japan and I would like to be proficient in the language. I am at beginner level. I would like to be able to speak conversationa l Japanese to enable me to travel. I am prepared to spend an hour a week (maybe 2 hours) on lessons with homework to do in between.
