I wish to learn Indonesian as I hope to one day live and run a business in Bali. As most Balinese speak Indonesian as well as Balinese, it seems the practical choice. However, the Balinese refer to Indonesian as 'internationa l indo' which makes me wonder if there are various dialects, so I want to make sure I learn the Indonesian spoken in Bali. It would also be nice if I could learn a little Balinese along the way. I also want to learn to read and write Indonesian. I am a complete beginner, knowing about 10 words. I am open to one on one as well as small group classes, and don't mind some online classes, but believe a certain amount of personal time is optimal. I am looking for one or two classes per week, or 2-4 hours, depending on location and cost. I live in Springvale South and would not be able to travel as far as the city more than once a week, so if anyone is able to meet at, say, a library anywhere in the south east, this would be perfect for me. However, it necessary, I can travel to the city at least once a week. I have complete flexibility with class time - any time daytime, evening or weekends is fine. It does not matter to me if my teacher is a qualified/exp erienced teacher, only that he/she is fluent and I can understand what I am being taught - which only a few lessons will tell. For this reason, I'm not willing to sign up and pay for a long period of time. I am quite happy to pay in advance for a few lessons until I can decide if it works for me. My plans are long term and I am serious about reaching proficiency so I am committed to studying in my own time as I understand lessons alone won't make me fluent.

I regularly visit Bali and the islands of Indonesia and I am keen to improve my Bahasa Indonesia. I would probably consider myself a beginner of the language, having spent only a week or so (about a year ago) learning the language everyday at the Ubud Language school in Bali.
I am keen to find a tutor that is close to Fitzroy (where I live) and one that is flexible with times as my work often involves travel. Definitely keen to commit to at least one lesson per week.

We are a group (3) of professionals who work in Brisbane's CBD. The company that we work for is a consultant to AID agencies and are managing many AID projects in Indonesia. We are all beginners and converse on a day to day basis with Indonesian staff in Jakarta, Kupang, Banda Aceh and Bali. We thought that we would like a teacher who was able to come into our office to conduct the lessons for say 1 - 2 hours per week. Because I have a larger requirement for the written word I might need extra lessons via email.
