I am a recent university graduate from a US university, where I took Kiswahili with a Tanzanian professor for 1 1/2 years. We did a lot of literature reading and translation, so I feel pretty comfortable reading and writing basic things but my conversation abilities are very lacking, as we did not do a lot of talking. Grammar also needs help, as I forget a lot of it now that I am no longer in school.
I hope to work in East Africa in a year or two, and thus hope to keep up (and greatly improve) my proficiency in the language.
I am willing to dedicate much time and energy to language lessons, however as I am a recent graduate just starting work and trying to pay off school loans, I would prefer a group class if possible so that it could be more affordable.

I am interested in learning basic conversationa l Swahili within a year. I am going to Kenya in July 2010 and I would like to be fairly confident when I arrive there.
I would need a teacher who can be flexible with their working time, and I would also need a tutor with competitive prices, since I am a student.
I am able to travel around Liverpool, but would prefer a home visit. I am a capable student.

I am very interested in learning KiSwahili. The reason are personal and eventually, I would like to move into a field dealing with using the language. My current proficiency level is very basic (some very basic words and phrases and concpets). The time that I want to dedicate to the 1-1 lessons is maybe no more than once or twice a week, and the rest as personal study time.
