I am a complete beginner at the Japanese language and am looking for a patient, knowledgeable and friendly tutor or teacher. I have a great interest in the culture, people, and of course the language of Japan. Unfortunately my lack of understanding of the language is a great barrier to further learning about the country and it's past and present culture and people. As I've stated, I am a complete beginner, with only casual experience with the language, and no grammar or even a functional vocabulary. I am looking to devote upwards of 12-20 hours a week into learning, if you're willing to teach. I tend to learn best in an open one on one situation, with emphasis on constructive rather than destructive criticism. The one thing I don't respond to well is 'That's completely wrong!' Or similar statements, as I feel that tends to discourage learning in an open environment.

My profiency is beginners I guess. I want to learn Japanese so I can communicate with my Japanese side of my family. Learning Japanese would also benefit me for the future as I may live in Japan one day. The areas in which I need to improve on is grammar, conversation and well learing verbs, nouns and such. As I am at school, once a week for about an hour ot two is my preference. Qualities in my teacher ... uhhhm. I would like the teacher to have good pronounciatio n (at school the LOTE teacher's pronounciatio n is horrible), I would also like for them to be able to explain things well.
