I am a Beginner who is taking part time Japanese classes in the fall at the University of Calgary. My brother just moved to Japan and I would like to practice Japanese with someone to gain a basic conversationa l Japanese. I work full time but I have time in the evenings and weekends, so 2-3 hours a week would be ideal but I can settle for 1. I am hoping to find a teacher that does not mind going over the basics and helping me create or go over a basic list of sayings I will need when I arrive in Japan.

I'm a beginner in Japanese, and a native speaker in English.
I want to learn more Japanese, because in a few years I may be going to Japan with my mom, so I would like to be prepared for whatever I may experience there. While I'm in Japan there's also a chance I might enroll into a school there for a semester. Even though the chance is small, I would like to audition for a singing group there! Basically, Japanese fascinates me and I would like to be billingual in both English and Japanese.
Ar eas that I would like to improve in would be grammar, conversationa l skills, all the basics and all that there is to know.
I would dedicate 1-4 hours a day. In a teacher, I'm looking for a teacher who is kind yet strict, who won't get mad and yell at mistakes that I would make. The teacher will have to be able to teach me all the basics before going onto something more complicated, they would have to be patient and make sure to give me homework, which will help me learn.
