I am an American living in Berlin for the last 8 years. I am trying to achieve ( at minimum) B1 level German so I am able to take the language exam to qualify for permanent residency visa.
When I first moved to Berlin, I was able to take German lessons up until A2.1. But my problem is I dont speak/read German for my profession. I also have my own business with no colleagues, so I dont have the opportunity to really practice.
Last year, I re-took the lessons and again only got through A2.1 level and had to stop because of the time demands of my business. So I have not progressed at all.
I am searching for a very patient teacher who will work with me and understand that my pace of learning will be slower than other students because of my limited time. I have more free time now (November - February) to spend more time taking lessons but from March- October) I may have to limit the number of lessons. Although I understand the lessons have to be in German, it would be extremely helpful to have someone willing to speak English to explain some difficult language concepts.
