I am a complete beginner in both cantonese and mandorin. At the moment i speak english and am good at French. I would like to learn either cantonese or mandorin as i am going on a gap year next year and am going with my chinese friend, and staying in Hong Kong with all her family who dont speak english, so i would find it helpful to learn some conversationa l cantonese. I also have a great interest in china in general and would like to spend more time there later on, so would find it useful to learn basic mandorin too.
Lessons in the evenings would be ideal, perhaps once a week, but times are negotiable.

I have family working in Oman which I visit annually and would like to learn Arabic, more so to speak rather than to write. I know a few limited phrases and greetings but otherwise I am a complete beginner. I would prefer to have contact with a person either privately or in a class rather than learn from tapes and books. I am working full time at present and would be looking for evening and/or weekend lessons. Perhaps once or twice weekly over a period of time, not an intensive course.
