I know nothing of Kannada and want to know and learn the language while I am in London for several year, for I am a fan of a writer from Mysore, Raja Rao. I was told by a scholar of Contemporary Indian literature that Rao's English writings are strongly influenced by Kannada which is his mother tongue.
I just want to learn the basic alphabets, sound system, basic grammer. I need not be fluent in kannada. Knowledge for beginner is what I am after.
I want an hour to two hour lesson in a week and want to have lesson in a public area, such as a cafe or open space in a library or a campus. I need a teacher who can come to the central London area for such lessons.
Qualified teacher for language teaching is very welcome but as long as a person is sensible and well educated with preferrably native speaker knowledge of Kannada who can teach the language to somebody with no knowledge of it it, it is fine. Let us give it a try for an hour and find out whether it will work or not.
I prefer female teacher but again as long as a person is a decent sophistiated character gender does not really matter.
