-I am a beginner in every sense
-Would like to travel to Japan and possibly attend school there. Studying to take the JLPT would be a plus.
-Would like to learn all 3 writing styles, grammar, pronounciatio n,conversation , and customs.

I'm a beginner.I'm learning Japanese because it's an interesting language and I like it. The hardest lesson for me is the 'honorific forms'. I don't want learning Japanese to take much of my time because I'm still a preparatory school student, so only a few hours at most.

My company has asked if I would like to live and work (with my family) in Japan for three months to one year. My wife and I would like to learn a little Japanese before we go. I'd like to be able to say polite phrases and read simple katakana and/or hiragana.
We need lessons at our house in Saint Paul, evenings or weekends. Our five year old could also learn a few phrases, but he isn't patient enough to sit through an hour-long lesson.

Absolute Beginner. Know some words, but not enough to form more than a few sentences.
I am learning for mostly personal reasons, I may be going to Japan in a few months. I want to learn mostly conversationa l Japanese. I would also like to be able to read enough to make out street signs and perhaps food labels, but that is secondary.
I would like to learn as much as possible in as little time as possible.
I expect my teachers to be experienced. I prefer they are native speakers, have knowledge of cultural differences, and high levels of English comprehension .
