I currently speak four languages (English, French, Portuguese and Spanish) but would like to learn Mandarin as well (beginner level). I would like to learn Mandarin for conversationa l purposes and for career advancement. I would like a teacher that is patient and provides take home assignments that aid in advancing my proficiency in Mandarin. And I like to talk a lot... to practice.

I'm a beginner in Mandarin. I've taken some classes here and there but I couldnt keep it consistently.
I want to learn Mandarin because I'm sure its a important skill to learn and by learning it, will help me a lot in all aspects of my life. Not to mention, I like Jay Chou's music but I dont understand anything. :)
I feel I need work on my pronunciation and my grammar.
As of July 2009, I'd dedicated around 4 hours a day working on it.
I am hoping to look for a teacher who knows what he or she doing and is passionate about teaching and for his or her students to learn mandarin.

I have 2 sons and a daughter who have been taking the international languages school program. My first son has been enrolled for 6 years, my second son for 4 and my daughter started last September. I require a tutor for them in order to strengthen what they have learned and to help them learn more.
Both my husband and I feel that it is very important for our children to learn Mandarin. We both do not speak the language and therefore cannot help our children with their work.
I will require someone to teach my 2 sons individually for an hour each for either 1 or 2 times a week depending on your recommendatio n.
I would appreciate a discussion regarding your thoughts.

I have been studying spoken chinese one year so I'm still dealing with basics.
I need conversation practice and am starting to learn to read.
I am looking for a tutor 4 hours a day, for 2 weeks in early December 2009 in Georgetown, Penang for my son and me. We are approximately at the same level.
I would like a retired teacher who is available 4 hours in the morning.
