I am moving to Japan. I want to become very skilled in the Japanese language so I can make a big difference in the community that I will live in. It is my dream to make a difference in the lives of as many Japanese as possible. I am currently a beginner. I need improvement in all areas. I want a focus in conversation. Well, I want to learn Japanese because I've always been interested in the country and the culture. I also plan to take a trip soon and I don't want to be lost while I'm there. I'm a beginner, but I know a few things. I would like to know everything about the language: grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, etc. Depending on what day, I can give about an hour or two. If it's on a weekend, I'm available for a few hours. I want my lessons to be thorough, but not put me to sleep. A teacher who can make me want to learn and have fun would be great!

Hello!
I've been teaching myself Japanese for roughly a year now, but I feel that taking language lessons might facilitate my learning, not to mention make it more interesting (books and software get a bit tedious after a while).
As far as specifics regarding my level go:
-I can read/write both kana and a very, very limited amount of kanji
-I know basic grammar
-My vocabulary is not too wide (probably around 300 words or so)
-I have no issues with pronunciation
I should probably mention that I've been looking into the possibilities of going on exchange to Japan with AFS, and would be particularly interested in taking lessons from someone who has had some sort of experience with that (whether as an exchange student themselves or as a host), simply because it might help for me to be aware of the problems (fluency wise) I may encounter while abroad.
Last but not least, since I am in high school, meeting once or twice a week in the late afternoon (anything after 3:30 pm) is really the only option I have.
