I am interested in learning Urdu so I can communicate with my boyfriend and his family in their native language. I've been having a difficult time finding an Urdu teacher, so I am open to learning Hindi and later picking up Urdu as the languages are quite similar. I have close to zero knowledge of the language -- besides watching Bollywood films! Needless to say, I'll need to start from square one. I would like to do one to two lessons a week, during the day (before 4 pm) and I don't mind travelling across the city to study! My goal is to obtain a basic knowledge of the language, I want to be able to understand and have basic conversations . I would also love to learn the alphabet, but writing is not as important to me in this case as oral communication .

I have an interest in learning Hindi. I am an absolute beginner as I only know a few words in Hindi. Personally, my boyfriend is from India and I wish to be able to learn Hindi and practice speaking it with him.
It is my dream to go to India and even though I may experience some initial shyness being a beginner, I would like to practice Hindi with people in India. I also have sponsored a nine year old boy named Peter who lives in the Bhopal area through World Vision and as he speaks Hindi..it would be nice for me to be able to communicate in his language. I work best in a one on one situation but will not mind being in a small group. I like to be able to have some grammar to work with but I like to focus on oral work...being able to have a grasp of basic conversation in Hindi.
