I have a very flexible teaching style and prefer to adapt to the student's needs and abilities rather than forcing them to adapt to mine. I love English in general and I also love exposure to different cultures. I'm very flexible for both hours and days and I'm willing to work around the student's schedule. So if you're ready to teach me something about your culture, I'm ready to teach you some English! |

Teaching approach: |
As a former television news journalist, I've often been entrusted with reviewing the script writing of University graduates now (professional s)entrusted with informing the viewing public. With that experience comes great knowledge about what's needed to teach potential students who will have at least an intermediate level English capacity. My course description is complete immersion. T hat means: The grammatical terms and ways to describe the form and function of the English language are not necessary at this point. What is important...i s to allow the student to completely immerse him(her) self with someone who speaks like natives do. To practice in "a real world approach in a relaxed environment where the student is not afraid to make mistakes. |

My teaching approach is quite unique for several reasons. First, I have been teaching languages to adults and children for over five years and have a Masters of Science- in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL). In addition to being certified I am proficient in Spanish and Portuguese. Also, I thoroughly enjoy getting to know my students interests and hobbies to activate their prior knowledge of material and gain a better understanding of their needs.
Each lesson has both a language and content objective which is based on the academic and language needs of the student. I use a variety of assessments including questions, graphic organizers and creative activities to engage students.
I am available for both private and group settings. |

My preferred teaching method is to "just talk". Through guided conversations and essays, I work to improve grammar and fluency with my students. We read newspaper articles and discuss them, or talk about cultural differences.
I try to teach not only the English language, but also lifestyle, culture, and history. |
