When learning a new language it can seem intimidating intially however what I do is start at the level where you are at. I, then work with a road map throughout the course for your specific needs. I feel it is important to show you where you are and where you are headed. We set the foundation and once we master it we elevate to a level of learning how to read, write and speak the language on a proficient level. It is important to have hands on experience when learning a new language because everyone learns differently. Some need to see, speak or read before they comprehend the information. I normally begin by eliciting as much information from the student about why they need to learn the language, how much experience they have had with it, what goals and objectives they have set for themselves in their language studies, etc etc etc so that i can understnad how I can best plan a teachign strategy that would suit the student's individual learning needs. |

I use what is called the Total Physical Response Storytelling (TPRS) method, which mirrors the way one learns their native language. In lieu of beginning by teaching grammar concepts, I emphasize language acquistion through sheltered immersion. Once a solid base of vocabulary is established, the concepts of grammar are explored. It is the easiest, most effective and fun way to learn a language! |
