I believe that having fun is always a more effective way to learn, it is important that the student feel at ease therefore I use an informal and friendly approach. I also like to base my lessons, considering the language level, on the specific interests and needs of the student. Motivation is the base of learning so it is of the utmost importance to know what your aim in studying Italian is. I think that language is basic to communicate and, consequently, you need to work on all the skills in a balance way: grammar, vocabulary, writing, reading, speaking and understanding . For students with intermediate or upper intermediate level I usually follow Italian literature (contemporary literature) and I like discussing in Italian touching some important issues of my country....be cause I think that learning a language is impossible without knowing culture and routine. For beginners I prefer focusing on grammar: I know it could be boring, but it's completely impossible learning Italian without a good grammar.
This is a general line of working, but every approach depends on every student. I think a good teacher has to consider the abilities and the characteristi cs of every student to teach as better as they can. |
