Hi! I´m a native spanish speaker but I can help you.
In French, "de" generally means "of". It´s a possessive particle.
But in negative sentences like that (je ne peux pas manger..)"de" is used to introduce the object (gateaux) because it cannot go alone like in english ("I cannot eat cake").
About the sound, is a soft "d" (like in "do")with a short "e" (like the "e" of empty.)

Rules of the pool Here is your translation. James
1. The pool is for registered guests only.
2. Admittance to the pool is stricktly prohibited to children not accompanied by an adult.
3. Please shower before using the pool.
4. Use of the pool is at the customer's own risk and peril.
5. There is no Life guard.
6. Diving is prohibited.
7. Running or hoisting oneself on a swimmer's shoulders is prohibited.

9. Bathing suits are obligatory.
10. Maximum pool depth is 10 ft/3m
11. The pool is open from 7:00 to 9:00. It is prohibited to enter the pool after hours.
