Charlie Chaplin Biography - Early years –Second issue - With help
This is an exercise for English native, Spanish practicing.
I would like to receive 5 questions in Spanish about this text, with
the corresponding answer. I will check and explain your work.
Try to do it! It is easy
Charles Spencer Chaplin was born in London, England, on April 16th 1889.
His father was a versatile vocalist and actor; and his mother, known
under the stage name of Lily Harley, was an attractive actress and singer, who gained a reputation for her work in the light opera field.
Charlie was thrown on his own resources before he reached the age of ten as the early death of his father and the subsequent illness of his mother made it necessary for Charlie and his brother, Sydney, to fend for themselves.
Having inherited natural talents from their parents, the youngsters took to the stage as the best opportunity for a career. Charlie made his professional debut as a member of a juvenile group called “The Eight Lancashire Lads” and rapidly won popular favors as an outstanding tap dancer.

Known: Conocida, from verb “Conocer” .This is Participio form
It is: conocer, conociendo, conocido(a) Infinitive, Gerund and Participle.
Thrown on: ? similar to “Crecer” growing up I am not sure
Reached: past tense verb Alcanzar, means alcanzó
Death: muerte. Here is a nome, not a verb.
Can use like verb “Morir”. Su padre murió.
Illness: enfermedad. Ill: enfermo(a).
Can use like verb: Su madre enfermó
To fend: ? It is similar to keep oneself: Mantener(se)
Charlie MADE: verb “Hacer” but more like the sense of Do .
It is different of CONSTRUIR, ej un edificio,
ELABORAR, una Torta(cake)
In this sense, Hacer, is more intellectual.
RAPIDLY: it is an adverb, with –ly (prefijo)at the end the translation es –mente
Rapidamente. If we say lovely, it means: amorosamente.
Won: Past tense of verb …….ganar?

Me gustaría recibir comentarios en Inglés acerca de este texto.
Estambul es una ciudad que se extiende sobre dos continentes, separando Europa y Asia. El viejo Estambul está situado al sur del Cuerno de Oro, mientras que la parte más moderna de la ciudad, llamada Beyoglu, se encuentra al norte.
Bósforo, es el estrecho situado al sureste de Europa y suroeste de Asia, que conecta el mar Negro y el mar de Mármara y separa la Turquía asiática de la Turquía europea. Tiene 32 km de largo y entre 1 y 2,5 km de ancho.
A lo largo de ambas orillas hay numerosas atracciones, entre las que cabe destacar ruinas arqueológicas, pintorescas aldeas y zonas boscosas.
Cerca del extremo sur está el Cuerno de Oro, el puerto de Estambul, uno de los puertos naturales más grandes del mundo.
En 1973, se inauguró en Estambul un puente colgante de 1.079 metros que une las orillas asiática y europea del estrecho.Por el estrecho de Bosforo se canaliza casi todo el comercio entre el Mediterráneo y el mar Negro, tal como se venía haciendo desde la antigüedad y la Edad Media.
Todavía hoy es una importante arteria en el comercio internacional

TRANSBORDADOR: Embarcación para transportar pasajeros y mercancías entre dos puntos de tierra firme separados por una extensión de agua (río, lago, canal, etc.). Como transbordadores se pueden utilizar barcos, aerodeslizadores y avionetas.
El transbordador se utiliza normalmente para distancias cortas, para cruzar un río o bahía o para unir dos puntos de un puerto marítimo. Cuando el recorrido es corto y los viajes muy frecuentes, se utiliza un tipo especial de transbordador con la proa y la popa abatibles de forma que se pueda cargar y descargar por ambos extremos sin necesidad de girar en cada punto de embarque. Para trayectos más largos o más duros, como la travesía del canal de la Mancha o del mar del Norte, se utilizan barcos más convencionales con un diseño mucho más sólido. Por lo general, la mayoría de estas embarcaciones tienen una cubierta plana que facilita el embarque y desembarque de vehículos.
Los transbordadores tienen normalmente una o más cubiertas para vehículos y transportan pasajeros en la cubierta superior. Los transbordadores modernos están normalmente propulsados por motores diesel. Los transbordadores de patín aerodeslizador y de aerodeslizador, que transportan sólo pasajeros, son ampliamente utilizados en la zona del canal de la Mancha y en algunas partes de Europa; en los últimos años, los aerotransbordadores están alcanzando una gran importancia para el transporte rápido.
Los servicios de transbordadores se utilizan, por ejemplo, en el mar Báltico entre Copenhague (Dinamarca) y Malmö (Suecia), en el estrecho del Bósforo en Turquía, entre diversas islas japonesas y en los Estados Unidos, en el lago Michigan y entre Seattle, Washington y Vancouver (Columbia Británica).
