Re:Tank you, Loonie! It was a very pleasent surprise to see your answer!
"Wo kommst du her?" what does "her" mean?
You must note that herkommen (to come from) is a so called "schwaches" Verb. It will be seperated as shown in the sentence.
herkommen (Inf.)
But you cannot say "Wo herkommst Du". Falsch. Richtig: "Wo kommst Du her"
An example for a strong verb would be, e.g., betreten (to enter).
betreten (inf.)
"Ich betrete das Lokal." (I'm entering the reastaurant)
Wrong, or even meaningless is: Ich tretet das Lokal be. In the latter example it is also not further helpful what "be" means.
Best regards

Tank you, Loonie! It was a very pleasent surprise to see your answer!
I just read your message with the expressions in German that I wanted to know.
Now I have a new question: in the sentence
"Wo kommst du her?" what does "her" mean?
and how would you answer that question? (In Spanish the answer 'would be "Yo vengo de ... [Mexico, for example]" or "Yo soy de ...)
How would you ask about the professional activity of someone?
or what they do for a living. In Spanish that would be "?A que te dedicas?" or "?Que haces?, And the answer would be "Soy ingeniero", or "Soy arquitecto", or "Me dedico a vender libros", etc.
(That in English is "I'm an Engineer", or "I'm an Architect", or "I sell books")

German-Swedish/English-exchange
Hi everybody,
i'd be very pleased if there is somebody who likes to teach me his mother tongue (Swedish/English).
I need to familiarize with these languages, because i am planning some kind of "sabbatical" in Sweden/GB in the nearer future. Therefore, it'd be great if someone from GB (esp. Greater London)answers.
Naturally i'd teach you my language as well as possible in return.
Hope to read you soon.
