Re:Re:Re:Problem in German (/all languages in general) learning
Yes, the numbers are very diffucult. Also the writting that subjects are written with a big letter at the beginnig. I didn´t heard from a language who you say the numbers the same like in Germany. You say it the other way around like in the most other languange :)
I don´t learn Cantonese. I learn English and Latein in school. I want to learn Spanish, but three learning three languages at the same time would be very difficult for me, because I haveto learn for school, too.
The way you learn it sounds good. Maybe you just need someone to ask some questions and explained the same things but another way.

Re:Re:Problem in German (/all languages in general) learning
Halo Natalie,

Nice to hear from you! I've only learnt German for the 2nd year, and haven't quite picked it up very well yet, let alone teaching someone else German :P I'm taking a German course and recently trying to listen to German songs, watch subtitled movies and read some websites...yes, it's very hard in many ways. For example, I don't know if you realize this-- but the way German read numbers is very difficult to me, a Chinese. I actually need to adapt to another set of thinking system..!

You're learning Cantonese, aren't you!! I think you'll find the "intonation" difficult. :P

Re:Problem in German (/all languages in general) learning
Hey Cathy.
German has a very difficult Grammatik. I'm a native speaker who learned English an English is much easier than German. Have you teach German yourself or how do you learn it? And how so you practicing it? In German we say: Es ist noch kein Meister vom Himmel gefallen and Übung macht den Meister. That means without many practicing you won't learn the Language good.

Greetings!

Problem in German (/all languages in general) learning
Halo, Ich bin Cathy!

Particularly, I have problem determining the German word order when making sentences...

Anyway..guys, have you ever practised your target language in real world..tried your best to produce a simple sentence (e.g. to ask for direction), only to find you cannot understand a bit what the native speakers have to say in return?

What will you do? Keep asking the other party to slow down or rephrase...(need some guts..haha) or simply switch to a common language?

I hope someone patient out there could help me with my German/English! I can offer you Cantonese/Mandarin/English, and I won't mind if you stop me and ask questions.

Hallo! Hello!
Hallo. Mein Name ist Nora.
Ich bin eine Deutsche.
Ich bin Studentin.
Ich studiere Maschinenbau.

My English is well but not the best.To be precise i'm much better at understanding English than talking. Actually, when i read books from English speaking authors, i read them in the original language without any problems. Unfortunately that doesn't mean one can also write and speak English well. But it is much better than in my school days, at that time i was really at war with foreign languages ;D
So if you want to practice with me on your German and my Korean or English, be my guest i will be glad to hear from you.

Nora
nice to meet you
