Hello, Tyler.
I read your profile and I should to say that native russian inhabitants (muscovites) is not a slavic. We have a finno-ugorian roots. Our ancient accessors from West-Asia, from area, where is now Northern Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and West India even.
I understand that may it will wonder to you but it's that. Unfortunately, there's many false propaganda in the world that russians is slavic. If we are slavic then little bit may only because West Russia was occupied by Poland some period in history.
Native russians to have a many opposite to slavics in culture and in menthality and it's important.
If you are slavic then try to learn ukrainian language with west dialect and I hope it will better and even easy for you. You also can study slovenian, slovakian or macedonian languages.

Seeking a partner to exchange linguistic knowledge
Hi I am still looking for partners, I can teach Spanish and/or English. I was professional teacher in Mexico's National University for almost 30 years, and I did the same job in central Texas (Fredericksburg) 4 years. Besides I am a Methodologist and therefore always I am developing new ways to teach and learn. I want to improve my Hebrew and also learn Russian.
