Hi,
I'm not an expert in Japanese per se, but it appears that "wakanai" that you are referring to is a short form (colloquial) version of wakarinai. I occassionally hear this among other speakers and it essentially means, "don't understand."

Seeking someone to teach Hmong
I just met this family that I really want to get to know. I want to love on them as I think that they need some help. The oldest girl (7years old) speaks pretty good English, but I dearly wish to understand the parents, and show love to them in their own language. I know absolutely nothing in Hmong, but I learn quickly and I am very eager. Is anyone willing to help me? Thank you!!! I also would be a great teacher of English if someone would like to practice with me... thank you! I'm looking forward to meeting you!

Please! Help (japanese)
I still don't understand the whole (jiyouhou / jyou-hou) thing, but I also needed to know something else that I can't find anywhere at all
Listening to some japanese I came across "wakanai" and as far as I can tell it means "I won't forget" but I have found no way of varifying this, so this is the only place left to check. what does "Wakanai" mean
