Chinese - Mandarin native speaker seeking Japanese speakers
I enjoy learning Japanese. Japanese looks familiar to me but it's quite different from Chinese. Sometimes I try to read the Japanese news from some Japanese websites, such as yomiuri.co.jp, I can understand quite a bit without knowing how to pronounce most of the words.
Many years ago I started learning Japanese to pass the exams, which was not for fun, so I stopped learning once I didn't have to take any exams.
Right now no one is pushing me to learn it, but I actually found out I really like it. I'd like to find someone who wants to learn Mandarin and at the same time is willing to teach me Japanese.
P.S. English is my second language. After living in Calgary for 10 years, I've been through the "pain" of leaning a foreign language, so right now when I'm learning Japanese, I don't quite follow what the textbooks tell me how to learn. The language "formulas" in the textbooks do help, but at the end of day if you really want to speak a foreign languages fluently, you almost have to learn & practice all sentences one by one.
