these vs. them in Modern Greek
Hi! I have a question. If I wanted to say "I want those" in Modern Greek and "those" referred to one thing that is male and another that is female, would I say it as "autoi tous thelo"? Or can I only refer to "them" and therefore cannot use "those"? What if I were saying one male thing and one neuter thing or one female thing and one male thing? If someone could help I'd be very thankful!

Re:Greek Students, Speakers, I need your help please !!!!!
Hi, I know all about your problem. I had the same thing. One really good (but fast and slightly confusing) set to learn from is "Mastering Greek". It's used to train Americans who will need to speak Greek at an American embassy. It has twelve tapes that really stress pronounciation and listening. It's not like a travel guide--it talks about declenstions, conjugation, abnormal verbs and how to use them, the past and future tenses and even has some "purist" Greek that you'll need to know in order to learn the regular language.
It's expensive, but worth it! I got mine at barnes and noble but I think you can order it through Amazon, too.
Hope this helps,
Renee

Re:Greek Speakers, Help me please !!!!!!!
Hello Rafael! I think this book is Classical Greek, so it teaches the language of 2000 years ago. Modern Greek is very similar, and perhaps if you ultimately want to learn Modern Greek, knowing a little Classical Greek would help a lot. Only that Classical Greek grammar is more complicate than Modern Greek's. You can use the book Teach Yourself Greek. Hope that helps, bye bye!

Re:could somebody please help me translate this to Greek?
Hi Lianne...
"How are you?" in Greek is: "Ti ka'nis?" is used when you speak to one person
"Ti ka'nete?" when speaking to more than one people,
"How is your brother?" in Greek:"Ti ka'ni o aderfo's sou?"
"it's" in Greek:"i'ne"
"I miss you" in Greek:"Mou li'pis"
"Can't wait to see u" in Greek:" Anipomono' na se do"
"bye" in Greek:"Gia"
"What have you been up to?" in Greek:"Me ti asholise?"
In the above phrases the "i" is pronounced i as in "pig"
The "e" is pronounced e as in "bed"
The "ou" is pronounced oo as in "cool"
and the "h" is pronounced h as in "hint" and is separate from s...
Hope I have helped you...
Kisses

Re:How do you say Philhellene in Greek?
Hi there...
I'm Greek and my name is Eugenia M.
You didn't find a female version of "filellinas" because there isn't one!!!This word is comprised of 2 other words: filos (friend)+ ellinas (Greek-male) and applies to all people regardless of their gender...

How do you say Philhellene in Greek?
Can anyone tell me how to say the female version of "philhellene" in Greek? I have a dictionary, but it only shows the male version. Thanks.
