Grretings ar the basics in learnig a language I bet. Hello in swahili is 'Mambo'(This is how your greet an age mate informally) the he/she replies 'poa'. To some one older you say 'Shikamoo' then he or she replies 'marahaba'. in a formal setting or to a person you are not certain of their age or is very young to you or you are not certain of the appropiate greeting, you just say 'habari'(how are you) and the other will reply 'nzuri'(good). Swahili does not really have one way of greeting, greetings simultaneously change depending on the situation, age and so forth. However, it is polite and more acceptable for the young to firstly greet the elder
