Education in Ukraine
Education in Ukraine consolidates the national idea, assists with the Europe-wide and national self-identify, with the mastery of the values of world-wide and Ukrainian cultures, common to humankind gaining etc. As the civil education is one of the most important priority, the fundamental part of education, so school, as a social institute, is now being confronted with a goal to educate a citizen whose the highest virtue would be the love to the homeland, to its nation.
According to the recommendations of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the national patriotic education must be pierced through the educational process. Formation of the real citizen must be the most important goal during the studying of Languages and Literature, History and Geography, Physical culture and The ABC of Health etc.
Wide thematic filling of the educational material with the civic components allows providing to pupils personal and emotional comprehension of the experience of human interaction in the present, in the past and in the future, to form their scientific understanding about the public relations in the state and about the methods of its realization; about the ways of activity, practical skills, behavior; civic values; practical actions of a citizen, the civil-society actor.
Thus, the contents and the educational methods of any subject have certain specific features concerning the formation of pupil’s civic competence.
Humanities and Social subjects form the basic complex of the civic abilities, skills and attitudes, the system of democratic priority and values of the personality. Non-Humanities subjects (Natural Sciences and Mathematics), which reveal the relationships between human and nature, responsibility to protect ecology and life on the planet etc., also play an important part during the education in development of civic properties and the abilities of the individual.
Artistic and Aesthetic subjects assist with the formation in students the system of aesthetic values as an integral basic of their worldview; they develop the artistic skills and competence, ability to the creative self-realization, spiritual self-improvement, healthy lifestyle, conscious choice of profession, readiness for civil protection and for Homeland protection.
