please recommend: European-developed audio instruction courses?
Please recommend the most effective/highly regarded audio instructional programs DEVELOPED IN EUROPE for learning various European languages*. If you have an opinion, please explain why you feel it is effective.
Why I am asking for this information: Although I currently use Pimsleur** (with great results), I'd like to discover other effective courseware... I just cannot believe that most effective foreign language learning courseware is produced in a nation (the U.S.) whose populace boasts notoriously poor foreign-language competancy!
* my interestes are French, Spanish, Italian ** I have Pimsleur French, Spanish and Italian; Levels I-III of each, plus Chinese I. The courses are awsomely engaging and consequently awsomely effective.

Re:please recommend: European-developed audio instruction courses?
Hey there! Around the beginning of January, I came across a great deal on some conversational Italian CDs by Michel Thomas. I could only afford the first two CDs in the set of 6, but I did learn a lot more than I thought I would come out with! They're kinda expensive, but they really are great. You can order them off of Barnes & Noble online, or Amazobn (I'm sure). Michel Thomas has 4 languages that you can get CDs for: German, French, Italian, and Spanish. He has an accent that sounds someone German, so it may take couple minutes to get used to what he says, but his methods really are awesome. :-)

Have you tried Champs-Elysees Audiomagazines? They also have a web site where you can see a sample.

I'm always on the look-out for language programs and books and there is no doubt that the English speaking world has the largest selection and range.
Price-wise the best value are the 'Teach Yourself Series' and the 'Colloquial... ' series. They have a huge range of languages covered and if you finish the course you can speak the language. There really is a lot of rubbish out there though when it comes to computer and tape courses
