Why don't we start with Spanish Lessons in this B. Board?
I've seen that there are many friends that are not Gold Members and want to practice/learn Spanish. Let's try something different while anyone of you become a Gold Member, let's start a lesson and keep it as updated as possible in this B.Board. Would you join it?

Come and join this Spanish Leeson # 1.

PERSONAL PRONOUNS (Subject Pronouns):
The words I, you, he, she, we, you, and they are called subject pronouns. Spanish has corresponding subject pronouns. Here’s a list of the English subject pronouns and their Spanish equivalents:

I Yo
you Tu
he,she,it El, Ella, Eso(a)
we Nosotros
you Ustedes
they Ellos, Ellas

You (singular) can be translated as:

usted/you (formal,polite)
tú/you (informal,familiar)

examples:

Speaking to your boss: usted
Speaking to your daughter: tú
Speaking to your teacher: usted
Speaking to your friend: tú

This same distinction with regard to degree of formality occurs in the plural form as well. When referring to "you" there are two choices in Spanish:

ustedes/you formal (more used in Latin America, even for formal and familiar, we use Usted, Ustedes)

vosotros/you familiar (more used in Spain)

Verb to Be conjugation in Present Tense (indicative):
As in every language, this is one of the most important verbs, and of course it's irregular.

Yo Soy / I am
Tu Eres / you are
El,Ella, Eso Es / He, she, it is
Nosotros Somos / We are
Ustedes Son / You are
Ellos/as Son / They are

Time to practice!

I am Rafael: Yo soy Rafael

You must continue...

You are Robert(formal):
You are Robert(informal):
She is Susy:
That's is a dog (un perro):
We are Students (estudiantes):
You are friends (amigos):
They are brothers (hermanos):

Good Luck! Continuing this lesson depends on all of you.

2nd Lesson: Genders.

Hola Rafael:)))
What a great idea to learn this way!
I really admire you for your creativity, efforts and teacher's skills.
What surprised me the most is the fact that you use "ustedes" as the plural form for "you". All of my Spanish course books use "vosotros/vosotras", with it's own verbal form "sois" that you didn't mention. It's good to know that it isn't so popular in America:) Aren't linguistic differences funny?:)

Re:Why don't we start with Spanish Lessons in this B. Board?
Thanks for your comments Marcin!

And that's right! As far as I know, Argentina is the only one of the Latinamerican countries that nowadays uses the Polite form "vosotros/as" instead of Ustedes. In most of the other countries it's more common to use "Ustedes" as I mentioned. That makes linguistics funny as you said.

Now, as you may have realized I posted "my offer" 10 days ago, and only you and Lasha have replied. I would like to take advantage to inform that it's not necessary to be a Gold Member to go on. Whoever that needs and wants to continue with this 'course' can join it, just post your messages here. It may help all af you to reinforce what you have learned about Spanish, and for beginners, this may bee a funny and good way to start with it.

I had promissed that the second lesson would be about "genders", but no one has answer my exercise, so I'll wait a bit in order to start with the second lesson.

I've thing about another problem in this bulletin board. AS you may have also seen, new postings make the older ones to get lost as time passes and sometimes it's really difficult to find your original posting. So what I've tought is to MOVE this posting to the section that less adds gets during a month, by the moment INTERNET TECHNOLOGY and CURRENT NEWS are the 2 ones where less adds are posted during a month. But, well that would be in the future, if this METHOD WORKS, and while we left a bit of time so that we give chance to everyone to know about this plan.

SO, LETS SAY THAT IF YOU WANT TO JOIN THIS CLASS, you do not have to do anything but posting your answers to the conjugation excercises I gave as HOMEWORK.

Regards,

Palafox

Oh, that's me again:D
Rafael, could you please translate the sentence: A FUERZA, NI LOS ZAPATOS ENTRAN.
I think you meant that noone comes in here, but am asking just to be sure:)
There's one more thing that you perhaps cannot even imagine it could cause problems: articles! Well, people whose native language belongs to the Roman or Germanic group use articles as something natural that doesn't need to be thought. However in Slavonic languages they don't exist, so learning Spanish, French or even English it's always the problem to distinguish which one of them should be used. Well, I generally know the rules and cases such as: "es UN perro" but "soy - estudiante" (with no article) are obvious to me. Nonetheless when it comes to more difficult examples I tend to have doubts (un/el/-). Luckily I can compare situations to the languages I had learnt before, but that's not always successful. So my request is to do a lesson about articles soon:)
Sincerely,
Marcin

What a nice surprise!!!

Ok, boys, as this is going forward in a good way, lets go to the next stage: lets move "our" Spanish Classes to a Section where it's easier to find our messages.

So let's move to "Internet Technology" That's the section that less adds have been posted during the last months.

So please, go to Internet Technology and sear for "Why don't we start with Spanish Lessons in this B. Board?".

IF YOU WANT TO JOIN THIS SPANISH CLASS, PLEASE, GO TO INTERNET TECHNOLOGY AND POST THERE YOUR ANSWERS AND COMMENTS. Let everybody know we are there.

Regards,
Rafael

Ok, Kim:

Verify that the Bulleting Board has different categories: Jokes, Slang/Expressions, Vocabulary/Translations, etc... so, from the top to the bottom go to the 8th category "internet technology" there you'll find our first and second lesson so far.

Rafael
