when to use the ?
Hi, I'm Bambang from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. I'd like to know when I use the words tie and the tie. Is it a noncount noun ? Why is the not allowed to be used for a noncount noun ? Thank you.

Re:when to use the ?
I guess it depends on what you mean bye "tie".

Are you trying to say: "I want to tie my shoe" or "Tie the rope in a knot" (using "tie" as a verb),
-or-
Are you trying to say: "I want dad to wear the tie with that suit" (using "tie" as a noun) ???

If your using "tie" as a noun, then you say "the tie" or you can say "a tie" (both indicate 1 tie)

*If your using "tie" as a verb, then you never use "the" before it.

Hope that helps!
