Travelling in January 2007
Hi. I'm planning to travel around China in early 2007. I am interested in out of the way places off the normal tourist track. I ahave been working in China and have some basic Mandarin. I'm looking for small towns with natural beauty rather than more big cities.
Ideas would be appreciated.

I'm Lu in Shanghai, I suggest you to visit some small towns in Zhejiang province,e.g. Wu xie, Ling'an etc., the sights are pretty nice and good accomodation. But thre might be cold in winter of Jan. in China. Quite agree that big city like shagnhai is not ideal destination for travelling.
