un quintal, des quintaux. Ce mot vient de l'arabe 'quintar' => 'poids de cent' Le quintal français ancien valait 100 livres anciennes, donc environ 48,951 kilogrammes.
Quintal est aussi un village de Haute Savoie. mais c'est une autre histoire.
