I have studied Korean for nearly 6 years already, but I stopped learning in 2002 when my son was born. I had a private tutor in Mountlake Terrace, but now wish to contineue learning with a tutor, but need to find a tutor in the Seattle area. I have the opportunity to use Korean in my work at F5 Networks in Seattle, but I am also very interested to learn Korean for personal reasons also. My hope is to dedicate time to learning with a tutor at least once every two weeks, and then to study Korean on my own outside of class, at least 5 to 6 hours total, in between lessons. The textbooks that I have used in the past, or the first and second volumes of Korean grammar, written by the late Dr. Fred Lukoff, who previously was the dean of the Korean department, at the University of Washington. I also have used numerous other reader books published in Korea, in addtion to some books that have previously been used in public education in Korea, geared at children in the late years of primary school (i.e. approximately 4th or 5th grade). The very most important thing for me in a teacher, in addtion to superb teaching experience and qualification s, is frankly, a 100% reliance on Korean when teaching, and not using English at all. I want to work in a Latino community and need to learn to speak and write Spanish. I studied Spanish for 2 years in high school (over 40 years ago) but have not used the language since, with the exception of using fundamental expressions when vacationing in Spain and Mexico. I'm only familiar with using the present tense. I would be able to devote at least 3 hours a week to lessons. I'd consider learning in a class or one-on-one. I need the instruction to be in, or near, center city Philadelphia, and near public transportatio n. Online learning is not an option for me.
