Hello. My name is Corinne Pace and I am a 29 year old woman who has learned Mandarin, Chinese through living in Taiwan, R.O.C. for 3 years while I was teaching English there. I have never taken formal lessons so I would prefer to start as a beginner (although I don't believe I am really a beginner) because I'd like to learn proper grammar and use this in conversation. I would like to study in a semi-private situation, only because it should be cheaper than a private situation. I work downtown Toronto at a language school, so I would prefer to start class at 5pm for an hour and a half, 2 days a week, someplace downtown, for convenience.
I would prefer a native Mandarin teacher who is fluent in English as well, and who has taught before.

Hello, my name is Natalie and I am looking for an arabic tutor. I know the basics and can understand a lot of arabic, but I get very tongue-tied when I try to speak. I want to learn verb conjugationa and improve my vocabulary. My family is arabic-speaki ng, and now I have extra incentive because my boyfriend is Egyptian and I want to meet his parents. :)
I would like to discuss with you what you recommend as far as hours per week but I am very serious about learning. I see that there are different levels and costs of educators and I would look to your guidance and choosing the appropriate one. Perhaps I could have more than one instructor: a lower level for conversation and a higher level for grammar etc...I don't know, this is where I defer to your expertise. My mother's background is Slovak, and I was born in Austria. I have my German, but when I visit my family in Slovakia, it is frustrating, because even though my family can speak German, they sometimes forget and then they have to translate.
I want to be able to communicate with my family in Slovak not in German. Plus, not everyone in my family can speak German, so it's a little hard to communicate with everyone. I am definitely a beginner.
I commute to Toronto for work and have friends in Mississauga. I would be willing to travel to either/or. I'm thinking that the grammar part of the lesson would excel my conversationa l skills in the long run.
I have tired to learn through my mother with no success due to the fact she wasn't able to explain the WHY part of the lesson.
I have taken German lessons when I was in school even though I can speak German, to increase my skills.
As far as time, I would want to see how it goes, hard to say at this time. But I would definitely want to get the basics down if nothing else.
Qual ities in the lessons, need structure, book to follow, exercises to practice.
As far as the teacher, one that does not just hand things to you and says do it. If I had such a teacher, I might as well go on the internet.
Hope this is enough of a description. I look forward to hearing from someone in the near future.

My proficiency level is beginner. I wish to learn polish because my girlfriend is polish and many of my friends are as well. I would like to dedicate 2-3 hours to lessons perhaps 2 times a week, but I am flexible. My main objective out of the course is to be able to communicate at a conversation level, but would like to pursue learning the language fully over time.
