Although my native language is Cantonese, I am more expertized in English since it is my most spoken language. However, I can still communicate well enough for a decent conversation in Cantonese.
I have absolutely no knowledge in the language of Mandarin, nor do I have any knowledge of writing and reading Simplified Chinese.
The reason I am wanting to learn Mandarin is for career opportunities in the future. I feel that it will be important for me to learn the main language in China if I wish to connect in the future.
I am willing to put in all effort into learning Mandarin, as I am very interested in exploring new languages.
As for the teacher, I am looking for a teacher that will be able to communicate in English. The teacher should be able to understand English well and respond well (accents are ok ^_^.) The teacher should be able to recognize my pace, and ready to move at a faster pace if required.

I am interested in learning other languages for travelling and possibly working abroad.
My native tongue is English but grew up in a household where Slovak and Ukranian were spoken by my parents. I am able to understand many slavic languages when they are spoken but am hesitant to speak because my grammar is weak. Thinking and translating from english to slovak is a problem for me.
I would like to spend a minimum of 3 hrs. per week of instruction, possibly more.

Hello,
I would consider myself a beginner in Arabic language, although with some exposure to reading and writing.
My reason for learning Arabic is primarily for self-interest and possible career usage as I hope to work in International Development within the context of Middle East. I am hoping to take an intensive Arabic beginner course this summer which is offered by Uuniversity of Toronto (NML210Y).
I would like to gain functional knowledge of Arabic for now, but plan on doing much more in the near future. I am hoping to dedicate atleast 4-6 hours daily as I am very motivated to learn.
The instructor needs to be engaging and energetic!
