Description |
I am a complete beginner who has started travelling to Karnataka State, India regularly (spend about 3 months of the year there).
I am particularly interested in conversationa l kannada . . . I have no interest in writing (at the moment).
I return to India in November . . . once or twice per week until I leave again would be great.
I would like a teacher who is clear and articulate in both kannada and english as well as patient and organised with his/her lessons.

Description |
I am able to speak Punjabi quite well, but need to learn the language on a much more advanced level. I also would like to know how to write and read the language as well. I would like to improve my Punjabi because it is my mother tongue and I should be able to read and write it. I am willing to dedicate one or two evenings a week. The qualities I am looking for in a teacher are professionali sm and patience. The lessons should be taught in a manner that would be effective and productive.

Description |
I am a beginner in Hindi language. I would like to learn Hindi for personal and professional development reasons. I recently spent 10 months working in India, and would like to continue learning Hindi, which I started to learn there. I would particularly like to improve in my grammer and conversationa l skills. I would like to meet with a teacher once a week, but would also dedicate time to homework on a weekly basis. I am looking for a teacher who is familiar with adult education techniques, has a comprehesive understanding of the Hindi language, who is flexible in their approach, and who makes learning fun.

Description |
*My level of proficiency is basic--i can catch certain words, and phrases, and i have been studying Cantonese on my own for approx. 2 years. Also i live in a chinese household so i am constantly exposed to the language, but somehow its just not coming as well as i would like. I am sure that I require a structured curriculum as opposed to being left to my own devices! *My reason is that i am marrying into a Chinese family, and my future inlaws do not speak English anymore than i speak Cantonese. It is becoming increasingly frustrating being part of a family that i cannot communicate with, as well i would like our children to be bilingual; if they are not then they will not be able to speak to their grandparents! *I am very dedicated to learning this language, however i would like the teacher's opinion on how much time she thinks is required? Twice a week sounds best i suppose, but i would like to know if she thinks that if i had one class a week and studied on my own if it would be sufficient, considering i have a house full of chinese people to help me and practice with ( once i have something to practice with- i have begged both my boyfriend and his sister to help teach me but they both say they don't know how to teach me!!) *Quali ties i would like my teacher to possess would be patience obviously, and other than that just the understanding of how to teach someone a language completely different from their native!! ( I must add that i definitely feel that although i am not proficient/co nfident enough yet to try to hold a conversation, i am not starting from scratch as some may be-- i have had about 7 years of exposure to Cantonese, which has given me opportunity to observe the different tones of the language..whi ch i understand many english speakers have difficulty adjusting to.)
